Standing atop at the No. 1 spot can get lonely, but no one ever really cribs! Nayantara is the reigning Queen of Hearts in the South, given her recent successes in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Scores of pretty gals come and go, but there is something about Nayan that keeps audiences coming back for more, something that newcomers are lacking. She went from being the conservative girl-next-door to the super hotty chica who took pride in flaunting her booty. And now, she has decided to slow down and strike a balance between glam and performance-oriented roles. Her career has been peppered with rumours but she remains unaffected. She does not believe in giving clarifications because that would only draw undue attention to the issues. And in spite of wagging tongues and hot new starlets, she remains on top of her game.

“Competition affects everybody. But once you have earned your place in your chosen field, it does not trouble as much as before. There is enough room for everyone in cinema. It’s about finding your unique spot and retaining it, rather than going after someone else’s. There are a lot of new gals. They come and go. They need to work harder to make it big. If not, they will lose out in the race,” says the wise Nayan who vows henceforth audiences will see her new, toned-down avatar.
